About this campaign
Equity instead of just Diversity. The "SuperE-Campaign" is a reaction to the "Realize Diversity!" campaign of the RWETH Aachen. It criticizes Pinkwashing and the lack of equal opportunities at the RWETH. We want to encourage the RWETH to create a real improvement in inclusion and equal opportunities.
Equity
Equality of opportunity is the basis of fair coexistence. This also includes balancing the starting conditions so that everyone - in this case students - have the same opportunities. Regardless of origin, money and discrimination experiences. It is therefore not only about equal technical requirements, but especially about balancing social and societal disadvantages. Everyone deserves equal opportunities and effective protection of- and compensation for discrimination.
"SuperC is followed by SuperD" - The Pinkwashing Campaign of the RWETH
In their campaign, the RWETH addresses various aspects of diversity. The RWETH presents itself as particularly tolerant and willing to include. Due to the lack of design and implementation of urgently required reforms, it is essentially an image campaign (Pinkwashing). It is also critical that equality of opportunity, inclusion and diversity are partly considered as "drivers of innovation and creativity" and as a means to develop maximum potential [see video]. Students are seen as tools for innovation and societal benefit rather than as people with fundamental rights. This can cause significant differences in the effectiveness of measures.
"SuperD is followed by SuperE" - Campaign Description
In the first part of our campaign, we imagine an RWETH that has learned from its mistakes and makes improvements (even if they sometimes miss their target)
In "SuperE follows SuperD" the RWETH now finally uses the correct term "Equity", but only for PR reasons.
"Appreciate the Binary!" celebrates the inclusion of women and thereby fails to address the problems of trans* people.
The second part also shows how the university could solve some problems.
"You have to Change!" shows that the resources are there, but the priorities seem to lie elsewhere.
"Racism is Important to us" suggests a way to address racism at the RWETH by giving a committee extensive powers and thus enabling it to do more than just nice PR.
And in "Different but still Human" the RWETH heralds an end to the information desert of being queer...
"University of Diversity" is just a shitpost about how the word "Diversity" is thrown around in the original campaign.
